Les Dames des Kalihi
Collage on paper.
14" x 11"
(Private Own)
Part of the artworks shown in this series are paper doll
cut-outs reminiscent of the ones that I used to play with growing up. I would cut out the clothes and patterns from magazines and exchange their clothing accordingly to see which ones were better suited. I wanted to create a story of their own characters in a beautiful manner.
With these collages on paper, I wanted to intercalate artifacts from African and Indigenous Art that I was studying at the time, and they have been a great source of inspiration to my work since.
